YesPlay becomes Title Sponsor of Newlands Cape Town and Western Province Cobras

There are some places that just feel special. Newlands is one of them.

And we’re incredibly proud to announce that we’re joining its next chapter as the new title sponsor of Newlands Cape Town and the Western Province Cobras, as part of our four-year partnership with Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA).

For us, the partnership feels like a natural fit. YesPlay is headquartered in Cape Town and is fully licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. We’re proud of our roots in the province and of the opportunity to support the communities in which we operate.

But there’s another reason this partnership feels right. At YesPlay, we believe sport is about much more than what happens on the field. It’s about bringing people together, creating experiences and giving people moments they remember. And Newlands stadium is one of the places that have created many of those moments.

Framed by Table Mountain, surrounded by its famous oak trees and shaped by more than 135 years of sporting history, Newlands is about as Cape Town as it gets. It has witnessed some of cricket’s most memorable occasions and holds a special place in the hearts of generations of supporters.

As YesPlay Newlands, we’re excited to be part of what comes next.

Our partnership will support continued investment in the supporter and visitor experience at the venue. Recent and planned improvements include upgraded hospitality facilities, enhanced seating and accessibility, new lift infrastructure, improvements to the sound and EVAC systems, upgraded food and beverage facilities, and further investment in player and match official areas.

But the vision for Newlands extends beyond match days. There are plans to evolve the venue into a broader destination for entertainment and lifestyle experiences, creating a space that can welcome people throughout the year for music concerts, events and other experiences beyond cricket.

For us, that’s an exciting part of the journey. Because if there’s one thing we know at YesPlay, it’s that great experiences aren’t confined to the boundary.

And there’s certainly no shortage of cricket to look forward to.

The 2026/27 season will bring an exciting programme of international and domestic cricket to Newlands, including tours by Australia, Bangladesh, India Women and England, as well as the New Year’s Test, Pro20 and domestic cricket.

So, yes, there will be cricket. Lots of it!

Alongside the new venue identity, Western Province Cricket is also bringing together two proud cricketing legacies with the launch of the YesPlay Western Province Cobras.

The new professional identity unites the province’s men’s and women’s teams under one brand, bringing together the heritage of Western Province with the achievements, history and emotional connection of the Cape Cobras.

For us, that makes this partnership about more than one venue or one team. It’s about becoming part of a broader cricketing community and helping create new opportunities for players, supporters and everyone who shares a passion for the game.
